Fridays are such a good day to ride. People are looking forward to the weekend and seem far more relaxed than they do any other day of the week. It may have been cool and it may have been overcast but there was already a group of people waiting as I pulled into the Burger King parking lot. There were 16 of us heading down Gilmore counting Raptor and after he split off we picked up Casey Jones so we had 16 heading south on Kirby towards Cypress.

It was good to see everyone enjoying the warm-up part of the ride and it was especially good to see Full Throttle with two of his sons joining us this morning. I still wasn’t sure about the pace we would be setting on Domenigoni because we had Barracuda with us and sometimes he tends to push the A group even on a Friday. Highlander had a wing man with Anthony and T-3 was up front with Blood Hound. So it was no surprise when we quickly moved through the housing tract on Cypress and found ourselves ready to make the turn onto Sanderson.

The run west on Domenigoni went pretty smooth with Casey Jones and Blood Hound breaking off on their own and the rest of the group stayed together all the way past Winchester and looked like we might make the saddle in one piece. As we got close to Leon the big dogs got in front and started to strain the group a bit till we hit the bottom of the hill and went into a sprint to the top were we regrouped and got ready to continue west to La Ladera.

D’Artagnon flatted just after Lindenburger and that is where Full Throttle and his boys left us to return home. About half of the group continued on to the park on La Ladera and the rest of us joined them as soon as the tire was repaired. After a quick rest we took off to work our way past the ground owls and over to McCall.

Once over the hill on McCall we whipped through the houses on Heritage and headed down Simpson towards Leon again. We were split into three groups by the traffic lights but it wasn’t long before we were back to Winchester and stopping at Chris’s for coffee. After a short break we more or less dribbled out of the parking lot and started for home. We more or less reshuffled into one big group as we got back to Warren Road. It was there when everyone started for home on their own and T-3 broke off at Sanderson with Highlander, Anthony, Dura-max, Ocelot, Sea Lion and I continued on to Lowes before moving onto Acacia.

Normally by the time we make it back to Acacia but today Highlander was still pushing all the way back to Kirby and even back to Gilmore. I could feel ever foot of the 3600 feet of climbing I had done the day before but I still managed to stay with the group till we got back to the vehicles and said our farewells to each other. I was glad I could ride with the group this Friday. I clocked 38 miles by the time I got home and managed to not need a nap before lunch. To me it was a perfect day for a Cyclist.
