We had another chance to get in a good ride before the weekend century ride coming up Saturday. They had predicted that we might run into some drizzle and when I first looked outside there were some clouds in the sky. But there was enough blue sky showing through to convince me that going for a ride would be a good idea. By 8:30 there were 12 of us heading out of the parking lot and looking forward to the ride to Elsinore.

Once we turned off of Gilmore and pointed our wheels west it seemed as if the sky was clearing. After we made the light on Kirby we started to feel just a bit of a breeze but there was nothing that would make us abandon the ride. The breeze started to pick up a bit as we turned west on Cypress. Still T-3, Ocelot, Dura-max, Sea Lion and Double time were riding easily and seemed to be looking forward to the run down Domenigoni to Elsinore.

We split into three groups as we headed west on Domenigoni after turning off of Sanderson and the wind started to push against us in a steady blast. Ocelot decided to turn back at Warren so I ended up riding in a group with Dura-max, Double Time and T-3 and finally we regrouped with the rest of the riders on the Saddle.

After leaving the Saddle it was a fast run to and through Railroad Canyon and a brief stop for coffee at Mickey-Ds. D’Artagnon, Cossack, Gambler, and Centaur took off once with Wolf, Sea Lion and Blood Hound following. Sea Lion fell back to wait with me while Huntress and Double Time caught up after getting caught at the light by Mickey-Ds. We finally hooked up with Wolf and Blood Hound at the top of Railroad canyon and we caught Dura-max and T-3 at about the same time. We all rode together till we got back to the saddle and regrouped once more at Leon. After restarting Wolf and Double Time pulled away leaving five of us to ride back passed Winchester together. Wolf joined us at Winchester and helped us pull back to Sanderson where Sea Lion left us to head home.

T-3, Dura-max, Wolf, Huntress and I rode together to Johnston where I turned for home with T-3 and Dura-max. I managed to get home in plenty of time to take my wife to her appointment and still have time for lunch and a shower. 45 quick miles with a head wind both ways is quite a workout but it was still a good day and a good ride.
